Refugee Training and Employment Coordination VISTA

As the Refugee Training and Employment Coordinator VISTA, your goal will be to support the Refugee Services Office (RSO) through the creation of targeted pathways to provide the training necessary to meet the identified employment skills, interests, and needs within the refugee community. You will assist in assessing current gaps and opportunities, foster crucial partnerships, and develop systems to track individual and program-level outcomes to ensure programming boosts both the employability and upward mobility of participants. The ideal candidate has an interest in economic empowerment, program design, and database management. They must have excellent communication, teamwork, and analytical skills. A willingness to provide community outreach and education with diverse groups is essential. They will be comfortable in training, assessing, and partnering with local employers and Refugee Services Office staff to best meet identified needs and desired program outcomes. The Refugee Training and Employment Coordination VISTA is one of ten AmeriCorps VISTA members involved in the Utah Refugee VISTA Project (URVP). Our VISTAs serve at six sites across the Salt Lake Valley, but still work closely with one another. URVP VISTAs can expect professional development, mentorship, and support from AmeriCorps and their host organizations. Serving in Salt Lake City, there is always something new to do! From international film festivals to cultural celebrations and abundant access to year-round outdoor recreation, there's something for everyone. Please reach out to Rachel Thornton, our VISTA Leader, at rachelthornton@utah.gov with any questions about the position, AmeriCorps VISTA, or the Utah Refugee VISTA Project at large.
