Linux/Unix Administrator

The NNL Information Technology (IT) team High Performance Computing & Enterprise Linux (HPCL) unit is seeking a curious, creative, and motivated individual to join our team. As our Linux/Unix Administrator, you will be a committed and collaborative individual that focuses on delivering secure modern infrastructure to our engineers and sailors. You will be responsible for deployment and administration of our Linux and Unix systems. You will develop and document your procedures and strategies. You will partner with a great team and workforce to research, design, install, secure, deploy and maintain the NNL Linux/Unix hardware, Operating System and specialized application.

REQUIRED SKILLS *

Intermediate:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience; or Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year relevant experience 

Advanced:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant experience; or Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience

PREFERRED SKILLS

•   Experience designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux/UNIX based operating systems, utilities, and hardware
•   Experience with system provisioning and configuration management tools such as Kickstart, Xcat and Ansible
•   Strong written and oral communication skills
•   Knowledge of user and group management solutions such as IDM, LDAP or Active Directory
•   Experience creating and maintaining production user environments for a broad user-base spanning multiple installations
•   Experience with monitoring health of systems related to operations and security
•   systems software, COTS software and specialized applications
