Unit Human Resources Administrator I

Position Summary

MSU IT HR supports a dynamic and growing organization of over 700 IT professionals. We partner with IT leaders to support the people aspect of decisions, tactics and strategies that advance IT's mission of providing the platform for Michigan State University to excel in research, education, and outreach. We are looking for an HR Administrator with strong generalist experience to support the recruitment, hiring, development and engagement of this great MSU IT team. The HR Administrator’s primary responsibilities will include: administering and coordinating the hiring and recruitment processes for all professional, clerical, student and temporary/on-call employees within IT; classification and compensation issues within IT; serving as a resource to department supervisors and a liaison to central MSU Human Resources to manage and coordinate human resource activities associated with the employee lifecycle; and interpreting human resources policies, procedures and practices.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in managing human resource functions, designing and implementing training programs or human resource/labor relations management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with HR hiring and recruitment.
  • Experience with the visa and permanent residency process.
  • Knowledge of local workforce community and established networks in the region.
  • Experience with data collection analysis, and reporting.
