Job Summary

 
We are seeking a Research Associate for our Microbial Solutions site located in Newark, DE.
Responsible for performing experiments and analyzing data to support new product and service development for Microbial identification and detection.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform experiments in a timely and efficient manner in the R&D department related to Microbial Solutions products and services.
  • Conduct data review, analysis and prepare summaries related to R&D experiments. Ensure attention to detail in record keeping and result verification.
  •  As required, present experimental results to internal stakeholders.
  • As required, read literature related to the fields of molecular biology, microbiology and other disciplines to assist with projects.
  • Perform experiments and analyze data to support Operations and Quality Assurance.
  • Support R&D efforts in responding to customer and field-support questions.
  • Provide routine maintenance, repair and cleaning of all laboratory equipment.
  • Comply with all aspects of laboratory safety, safety stations, safety manuals, safety SOPs and MSDS sheets.
  • May assist in the development and review of controlled documents such as Standard Operating Procedures and Specifications.
  • Maintain productive relationships with internal and external collaborators.

Job Qualifications

 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in a scientific discipline or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 months of related experience required.
  • Knowledge and experience with microbiology, molecular biology, and/or biochemistry methods.
  • Knowledge and experience with Next Generation Sequencing, Sanger Sequencing, and/or MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry is highly desirable.
  • Skills such as aseptic technique, DNA extraction, Sequencing, PCR, gel separations, spectroscopy, and/or mass spectrometry preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with analyzing experimental data using Microsoft Excel and/or other software.
  • Experience with GMP services preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
