POSITION TITLE: Senior Research Assistant -Parker Lab

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Scripps Research Institute is currently seeking a Senior Research Assistant. The chemical biology research group is seeking a senior level Senior Research Assistant with experience in cell and molecular biology to join a collaborative and interdisciplinary team of scientists focused on illuminating molecular mechanisms that contribute to diseases, such as cancer, and studying how small molecules might regulate, or be used to regulate, complex biological processes, such as immune responses and metabolism. Requires background/experience in: proteomics/chemical proteomics; cellular biology; molecular biology (DNA purification, cloning, RNAi, CRISPR, recombinant overexpression); assay development. Responsibilities will also include lab management, supervisory capacity, planning, organizing, and directing assigned projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline and 7+ years of experience.
  • Candidates with a Master’s degree need 5+ years of experience.
  • Candidates with a Ph.D. in a relative scientific discipline are also encouraged to apply.
  • Requires background/experience in: proteomics/chemical proteomics; cellular biology; molecular biology (DNA purification, cloning, RNAi, CRISPR, recombinant overexpression); assay development.
  • Must be highly motivated, collaborative, detail-oriented and reliable for accurate performance of research analyses and well-organized record keeping.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work semi-independently are expected. 
  • Experience with proteomics
  • Expertise with mammalian cell culture
  • Strong expertise with molecular biology techniques (DNA purification, cloning, RNAi, CRISPR, recombinant overexpression, Western blot, qRT PCR)
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions in the performance of experiments.
  • Must be able to interpret results and will be responsible for accurate scientific research, documentation of results, and the evaluation/analysis of data.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic understanding of organic chemistry, drug discovery and chemical biology
  • Proteomics experience is highly preferable
  • Cell and biochemical assay development 
  • Lentivirus production experience

  • This position works in a laboratory environment.
