Maintenance Technician

Lear Corporation is currently seeking a Full Time Maintenance Technician for their Columbia City, IN Plant.

The Maintenance Technician personnel repair and maintain equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines and automation equipment by performing the duties listed below.

The Maintenance Technician is part of the Engineering department and reports to the Maintenance Engineer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

Observe mechanical devices in operation and diagnose malfunctions.

Dismantle mechanical devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

Make approved modifications to machinery and equipment to meet production needs.

Repair or replace defective parts.

Lubricate and clean parts.

Start devices to test their performance.

Set up and operate drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

Maintain, install, and repair electrical equipment.

Keep accurate preventative maintenance records and ensures that all revisions to equipment and tools are properly recorded.

Install new machinery and equipment.

Follow company rules and policies/procedures.

Assure safety standards are always followed.

Contribute fully to continuous improvement initiatives.

Adhere to 5S and “World Class Housekeeping” standards.

Participate in team meetings and understands performance goals and objectives.

Help to achieve team performance goals and objectives.

Lockout/tag out.

Fabricate approved fixturing for production use.

Pipe fitting.

Actively participate in self-directed work team model.

Follows ISO14001 and IATF16949 procedures/processes.

Ability to work overtime and/or weekends as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Participate in plant recycling programs.

Contribute to the achievement of quality/management objectives by maintaining equipment in such a way that it allows product to be produced to customer expectations.

It is the responsibility of the Maintenance Technician to take appropriate action and to effectively communicate where necessary any observations which may impact Lear CC’s ability to manufacture a quality product and to achieve an on-time delivery. Individual actions which should be taken into account are as follows:

Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance’s related to product, process and quality systems.

Identify and record any problems related to the product, process and quality system.

Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.

Verify implementation of solutions.

Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and knowledge of and experience with electrical processes, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, pipe fitting and blueprints.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Ability to follow written and verbal instruction (ex. Engineering specifications and/or drawings).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Forklift and hi-lo picker license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
