IAM SITE RELIABILITY ENGINEER

Job Summary:

This position is within the Identity and Access Management (IAM) Team which acquires, develops, and maintains identity and access systems, products, and tools for the entire University of Wisconsin (UW) System and, more specifically, UW-Madison. This includes designing, planning, developing, operating, and constantly improving our use and implementation of technology.

Your Role:
The work we do is varied and challenging, so you will need the tenacity to take on a variety of projects that benefit students, faculty, and staff at UW-Madison and beyond. As an SRE you will have the opportunity to implement and promote industry best-practices around continuous integration/delivery, deployment and orchestration, monitoring/alerting, and optimizing delivery of services across on-premises and cloud toolkits.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
-Professional experience with site reliability engineering, software engineering, or systems engineering
-Experience with version control systems (e.g., git)
-Knowledge of DevOps and other CI/CD tools and techniques
-Demonstrated desire to learn new things
-Excellent problem-solving skills
-Flexibility in development frameworks, languages, and other tools

Preferred Qualifications
-Experience developing automated deployment pipelines
-Experience with cloud hosting (e.g. AWS, Azure, etc.)
-Experience with Docker
-Knowledge of web authentication technologies
-Experience with SQL or managing objects in relational databases
-Excellent customer service skills and orientation.

The candidate selected for this position may perform a combination of on-site and remote work subject to an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement, which is reviewed and approved annually. This position may require some work that must be performed on-site 1-2 times a year. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a University provided computer.
