Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator assists with, initiates, develops and produces professional communications using a variety of media, specializing in social media. The coordinator leads the management and monitoring of Kent ISD’s flagship social media platforms, reaching and engaging with broad and diverse audiences. In addition, this individual works with teams across the organization to provide social media training, guidance and support in best practices including content creation, using new features and assessing analytics. The coordinator provides additional and administrative assistance to the Communications Team in support of a variety of internal and external goals and plans. Eligible for partial remote work.

  1. Essential Job Qualifications Required:3+ years professional communications experience
  2. Social Media Marketing, Communications or related degree preferred
  3. Bilingual/multilingual (Spanish) with writing fluency and translation experience desired
  4. Proficiency in social media management and content creation for many platforms and audiences including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, TikTok, other and emerging platforms
  5. Experience capturing quality photos and video, plus photo and video editing
  6. Experience creating and managing paid and unpaid social media campaigns, and analysis of results
  7. Ability to travel to locations throughout Kent ISD’s service area to gather content
  8. Self-starter able to problem-solve, and enjoy working on a tight-knit, fast-paced team
  9. Strong planning, organization and coordination skills, project management and follow through
  10. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including writing, editing and proofreading
  11. Detail oriented
  12. Presentation and training skills
  13. Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
  14. Enthusiasm/willingness to take on new projects and learn new skills
  15. Maintains a drive for excellence in all projects and products
 Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Create social media plans and strategies that promote the organization’s goals and messages, increase visibility and deliver information to diverse groups of stakeholders
  2. Initiate, develop, produce and edit content, plus manage and monitor Kent ISD’s flagship social media platforms
  3. Track metrics and use results to tailor content for the most effective sharing and engagement
  4. Coordinate with, support and coach teams/programs throughout the organization on social media use and the latest digital media trends
  5. Assist in coordination and implementation of a variety of marketing and communication efforts, initiatives and projects including social media and other paid and unpaid campaigns
  6. Provide support to the Communications Department including research and planning, purchasing, budget tracking, translation or translation coordination, meeting and event coordination
  7. Demonstrate a strong commitment to equity and inclusion in all practices and responsibilities
  8. Other duties as assigned

Salary: Per Professional Salary Schedule for 260 Day Staff, Grade 3 = $55,445.00
