The Wisconsin DNR Fisheries Program is recruiting for three (3) LTE Fisheries Technician positions at the Wild Rose Fish Hatchery. Two positions will be starting in February and the third will start in April as workload dictates.

These positions require a solid foundation in the natural sciences as well as facility maintenance and operations. Through the experience gained in these positions, successful applicants will learn fish propagation principles and build on their of fish culture skills. Working at the Wild Rose Hatchery is a unique experience that gives people the opportunity to work with Coldwater and Coolwater species in traditional aquaculture settings, as well as in a modern recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). The positions will assist with all phases of Coldwater and Coolwater fisheries propagation, from spawning to stocking, both on inland waters as well as on the Lake Michigan system. The positions will receive direct supervision from the work unit supervisor and be overseen by the on-site Fisheries Technician - Advanced Staff and\or the Hatchery Biologist. These positions will require working some weekends and holidays. The selected candidate must be able to drive a state vehicle. Candidates with three (3) or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two (2) years, or who have an OWI/DUI violation within the past year are barred from driving state vehicles.

65% - Fish propagation and spawning activities
a) Assist in the general rearing and spawning operations under the direction of senior hatchery staff
b) Assist in monitoring fish growth and condition factors
c) Assist in the feeding, inventory, sorting, and moving of fish
d) Monitor water quality parameters
e) Observe fish behavior and monitor for disease

25% - Maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment
a) Maintain and repair buildings, facilities and equipment under the direction of senior staff
b) Perform grounds maintenance 

10% - Facility operations
a) Provide public information, including giving tours and maintaining displays
b) Conduct duties independently on weekends as assigned
c) Assist other hatcheries and rearing stations when needed
