Summer Camp Counsellor (Dominican Republic)
This is an amazing opportunity located in the beautiful, coastal town of Cabrera, Dominican Republic, working with non-profit organization, The Esperanza Project, where you will be working as a summer camp counselor for a period of 3 to 6 weeks during the summer months between mid-June to the end of July, 2022.
We are entering our 12th year of our summer camp program, a completely free of charge day camp for local children aged 5 to 15 to take part in activities such as sports, art, music, dance, drama, and reading throughout the summer months. As the program is completely free of charge for all children, we recruit a group of young, energetic volunteers to lead the activities at the camp each year, which is where you come in!
We are currently recruiting volunteers to join us for either the 3 or 6 week sessions of the camp between June 18th to July 30th, 2022. The camp runs every Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 12:00pm, leaving afternoons free for volunteers to explore the local area. There are many of the world’s most beautiful beaches within 15 minutes of the camp, as well as stunning natural lakes and waterfalls. Within the town itself there are several restaurants, parks, internet cafes, and a beautiful waterfront boardwalk where volunteers can relax and enjoy their afternoons off by the oceanside.
While here in the Dominican Republic, The Esperanza Project will set up a safe, comfortable accommodation close to the camp where you will have a private room in a home with a local family. This will be included in the volunteer program fees which include accommodation, all meals for the entire stay, drinking water, transportation to and from the airport and any necessary program supplies. While living with a local family, volunteers will have the chance to learn even more about the local culture, practice Spanish, and become a true part of the community.
