AmeriCorps VISTA Leader

MCSC Community Resilience Project VISTA Leader  Member Duties : VISTA Leaders shall commit to a year of full-time service providing support, counseling, mentoring, and training to VISTA members. Service shall include conducting monthly individual member check-ins; facilitating monthly cohort meetings and professional development training; providing technical resources as needed; creating social media program postings; supporting VISTA member events; survey and evaluate VISTA member program experience; recruiting and facilitating new member orientation and onboarding; managing member program reporting compliance; analyzing impact performance data; promoting VISTA Service program to organizations and community; and planning end of service member award ceremony.

Terms : Permits working at another job during off hours , Permits attendance at school during off hours .  Must have one year previous experience with AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps VISTA, or City Year program.

 Service Description : The Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) sponsors VISTA projects in organizations throughout the State to empower low-income communities with nutritional and healthcare programs and support underserved youth to succeed in school and careers. VISTA Leaders will serve remotely and lead approximately 12 members each who are assigned to projects throughout the State. Leaders will also have a role in planning the AmeriCorps Celebration, supporting national volunteer events, and planning the VISTA Award celebration at the end of the program year. VISTA Leaders will support VISTA members serving in mentoring, education, health, and economic development organizations that support initiatives in education; COVID testing and vaccination access; youth voice in equity and social justice; nutritional education; environmental issues; assisting families with access to health resources, and more.
