Job Type Details: $400/month stipend and room & board

Urban Farm Coordinator- Under the management of our lead farmer, coordinate the research, development and operations of a 27,000 square foot high tunnel vegetable farm including farm site management of planting cycles, watering, harvesting, neighborhood resident engagement, volunteer management, business partnerships, social media with nonprofit partners etc.

Duration of Service: 12-18 months

Location: Milwaukee, WI in the neighborhood of Riverwest

  • Young Adults ages 21-26
  • Any background of study
  • Open to Catholic Spiritual teaching and life

What You Can Expect to Experience?
  • Spiritual Formation:  A life of prayer rooted in the Catholic faith with a focus on daily prayer and Catholic Social Teaching to better come to know Christ and the love that he has for the poor.
  • Leadership and Career Development:  A life of Apostolate to take on the role of running food pantry operations in various capacities through Team Shop, Team Feast, Team Grow, Team Stride, and Team Form. All working together towards the betterment of the neighborhoods in which we serve. You will gain leadership experience in non-profit community work.
  • A Place of Belonging: A Life in Intentional Community living in the neighborhood in which we serve with fellow missionaries. Together we grow through the sharing of community, life of prayer, service, and living simply.

PROJECT GOAL
You’ll coordinate the research, development and operations of a 27,000 square foot high tunnel vegetable farm to increase the amount of fresh produce that can be made affordably available.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
  1. Coordinate growth of farm programming events, developing wellness and education programming or resident farm activities.
  2. Research, develop, and implement plan to use Farm site for education and advocacy around Food Justice issues.
  3. Design and implement farm volunteer management and engagement.
