Job Summary
Altair is looking for a creative, energetic internal communications intern to help elevate employee engagement through proactive communications efforts. As an honorary member of the internal newsroom team, you will capture, create, and share the stories that are the heart of Altair.
You will collaborate with the Altair human resources team and Integrated Marketing and Communications team to deliver news that will support our employee affinity and retention efforts.
The internal communications intern will be part of Altair’s Integrated Marketing & Communications team and will report to the Vice President of Corporate Communications.
What You Will Do:
- Collaborate on the strategy and execution of internal announcements and news across internal communication channels.
- Create engaging stories and content for internal consumption. This includes identifying and producing internal story opportunities, pitching ideas, and interviewing employees.
- Develop a recurring employee newsletter to communicate updates, milestones, and opportunities. Work with internal stakeholders to source images, develop the template, and distribute the newsletter.
- Assist with planning, organizing, and executing internal events for employees (both virtual and in-person)
- Draft nominations for award opportunities aligned to showcasing Altair being a best place to work
- Collaborate with various teams to ensure communication strategy and initiatives align with their intended messages and timelines.
- Contribute to measuring success and monthly reporting.
- Operate with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion
What You Will Need:
Basics:
- Student pursuing or having received a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field
- 1-2 years related experience in a communications internship role a plus
- Excellent writing skills with a keen ability to create easy-to-read, uplifting, and engaging content
- Have an adaptable approach to learning and ability to pick things up quickly
- Sensitivity to Altair’s goals and values and the ability to relay them to employees
- Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Strong leadership qualities including being proactive, communicative, and efficient
