Benefits Associate-San Antonio

Position Overview
At Health Advocate, we are committed to providing our customers with services that improve the health, well-being and productivity of their employees. We are looking for the right people with experience who can respond to benefits inquiries and assist members with plan selection decisions. The Benefits Specialist will be required to interface with many internal and external resources to provide guidance and direction regarding plan options, cost factors and detailed benefit review.

Essential Job Functions
• Professionally answers incoming calls and respond to client inquiries
• Provides guidance to members on open enrollment issues and benefit options. This includes compare and contrast benefits during Open Enrollment and Special Enrollment Periods.
• Connect with customers by phone and quickly develop a rapport to help the individual to navigate their benefit choices and options.
• Answer customer questions related to Benefit Plans, including the following topics:
o Health Care Reform
o Marketplace navigation
o Exchange plan review and comparison
o COBRA
o Medicare A, B, MediGap, Meciare Part D plans
o High deductible health plans
o Flex Spending Accounts, Health Savings Accounts, and Health Reimbursement Accounts
o Coordination of Benefits and which plan is primary
o Summary Plan Documents
o Government programs and resources
o Legislation and mandates
o Fully insured and self-insured
o Pharmacy benefits including injectable medications
• Facilitate obtaining member’s medical records
• Place outbound follow up calls for issues that cannot be resolved during the initial call
• Respond to member cases in delegate box, answers and after hours calls
Other Skills/Abilities
• Bachelor’s degree or other applicable work experience
• Previous benefits experience preferred
• Strong Communication skills and phone etiquette
