Human Resources Analyst I / II

ALLETE, Inc. is looking for a dynamic, motivated individual with a desire to join our Human Resources team. If you appreciate being in a teamwork oriented environment with other professionals with a common goal to get the right results the right way, please consider this opportunity in our benefits group. This human resources analyst position has a high level of responsibility, autonomy, and exposure to a variety of aspects of our business.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Balance biweekly payroll feeds, quarterly employee contributions, and reconcile related accounts.
  • Administer the compensation deferral plan including tracking employee deferrals, distributions, and loans.
  • Assist employees with website access, and other process and financial inquiries.
  • Implement legal and regulatory requirements for the compensation deferral retirement plan.
  • Partner with other internal departments and vendors to facilitate a variety of sensitive and complex financial transactions.
  • Assist with developing communications and education plans for both current and former employees.
  • Direct employees, retirees and supervisors with questions regarding policies, benefits, and programs. 
  • Assist in producing various required financial government report filings. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree required, those graduating by December of 2021 will also be considered.
  • Degree preferred in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Human Resources.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Level I
  • No experience required.
  • Payroll, accounting, or experience with compensation deferral plans is preferred.

Level II
  • Four years of related experience in financial, payroll, accounting, or related human resources administration

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
  • This position requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail as well as the ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.
