Startup & Venture Capital Intern, Grand Rapids, MI

DESCRIPTION

Startup Grind (https://www.startupgrind.com/) is the world's largest entrepreneur network with over 3.5 million members across 700 cities in over 125 countries.

Startup Grind chapters across the world host monthly speaking events showcasing top local founders, CEOs, and influencers. These chapters become the hub that connects all the great elements of a city's startup ecosystem.

The Grand Rapids chapter was launched in late 2019 and has quickly become a model chapter in the global community, being awarded Chapter of the Month for August 2020, and Global Chapter of the year in 2021.

Not only do we help our local ecosystems, but we mentor, advise, and work with and within startups who request our help to foster connections with investors, accelerators & incubators, state-sponsored resources and prepare them for fundraising.

This position is ideal for candidates who:

- have a passion for entrepreneurism, startups, tech, events, people
- are looking to gain real, significant experience in entrepreneurship, financing/funding, startups
- enjoy being a connector and helping people
- want to develop a strong professional network in entrepreneurship, banking, venture capital on a global level

While the position is remote, there's also an opportunity to meet nearby chapters (we have 700+ globally!) and to attend Startup Grind Global in San Fransisco in April of each year (free conference ticket!!).

ABOUT THE JOB


The Startup & Venture Capital intern helps our chapter connect our ecosystem with promising startups, founders, talent, venture capital firms, institutional investors, incubators & accelerators locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.

There is also opportunities to work within the ecosystem connecting founders, startups, and investors together.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Source and communicate with startups, founders, investors
  • Collaborate with other team members to analyze startups and complete preliminary due diligence
  • Help identify promising startups, founders, entrepreneurs, and investors to invite into our ecosystem
  • Keeping up with related news on startups, the startup ecosystem, etc.
  • Any other support as needed

EXPERIENCE

No formal or previous finance, VC, startup, or marketing experience is required.

It's most important that you embody the Startup Grind values.

Everything else can be taught!!

REQUIREMENTS

- 10ish hours a week available around your schedule
- Computer, web browser, and access to the internet
