Media Relations Fall Intern, Colorado Avalanche

Position Summary
The Communications/Media Relations Internship provides an opportunity to learn and assist with the day-to-day operations of the Colorado Avalanche Communications department, as well as work with the hockey operations staff. This internship position will specifically focus on the topic of media relations, team website and team operations.
 
Essential Functions/Responsibilities  
  • Assists in the daily production and distribution of the press clippings and gathering all Colorado Avalanche/NHL stories from local, national and international news services
  • Assists in content creation for the Avalanche’s official website. Duties may include writing features, previews, recaps, etc., gathering audio and transcribing interviews and press conferences, and other opportunities with web and the team’s social media.
  • Provides general support for the hockey operations staff, including executives, team services and hockey administration
  • Creates and distributes credentials for Avalanche home games
  • Supports game day functions for the Avalanche Communications department, including: press box preparation and setup, assisting media and contributing to postgame notes
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree (or working toward a bachelor’s degree) in communications, sports management, or related field, preferred. 
 
Compensation
  • $14.77 / hour
  • 29 hours per week

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
