Summary:

The NIA Centre Financial Management Fellow (FMF) is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in the research and implementation of fund diversification techniques to promote the financial sustainability of the organization. The FMF will help expand the organization’s donor base and capacity to apply for grant funding.  The FMF will also help identify corporate sponsorships and partnerships. This strategic position under the Executive Director will have the ability to participate in almost all financial activities of the organization in collaboration with other staff, offering substantial experience in finance, business administration and nonprofit management. 
 
Deliverables:
1.    Apply to one grant on behalf of the organization with minimal supervision.
2.    Assist in the planning of at least two NIA Centre fundraising events.
3.    Provide analyses of current and potential grants and funders.
4.    Provide analyses regarding cash flow, revenue at events, etc.
 
The following list of responsibilities includes all tasks available to the FMF and should be seen as a tool to curate the amount and type of experience gained during the internship.

Available Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the financial planning and resource procurement of events.
  • Research potential donors to gain insight into needs, beliefs, and donation habits (market analysis).
  • Cultivate donor relationships virtually and/or in person.
  • Assist with marketing and public relations activities as it relates to fund raising, corporate relationships and partnerships.
  • Generate reports, memorandums, correspondence, presentations, spreadsheets and other materials.
  • Keep track of potential grant opportunities that align with the organization’s mission.
  • Maintain a highly visible role in informing the community about opportunities to contribute to the mission of the organization, leading to meetings with individuals, groups, philanthropic leaders, business leaders, community leaders, etc.
  • Assist the Financial Management Coordinator with the responsibilities listed above to help the organization reach its goals.
  • Assist the Executive Director with the preparation of grant requests and funding continuation from sponsors.
  • Assist the Executive Director with grant writing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Experience in a professional setting preferred but not required.
