Tax Analyst

The Tax Analyst will provide information reporting and withholding guidance to Prudential’s Product areas, including Asset Management, as well as the Corporate Centers (including Benefits, Compensation and Payroll). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, communicating IRS requirements to business partners, assisting with implementation of new IRS guidance, and ensuring products and services comply with all tax rules. The successful applicant will serve as a liaison between Corporate Tax and the applicable Business Group(s) and support business activity to ensure compliance with the tax rules. Areas of general knowledge and support with respect to the various Prudential Business Groups are described below. Note: Applicants are not required to have product tax knowledge when applying for this position. However, the successful candidate must have a willingness to develop technical tax skills, as well as the flexibility to move from supporting one Business Group to another.

Qualifications:
Technical and operational knowledge of federal, state and local tax information reporting and withholding rules, including familiarity with:
  • Forms W-2, 1099 and 1042-S (including B-notice and TIN penalty notice requirements)
  • Form W-8/W-9 rules for U.S. withholding agents (including FATCA)
  • Income and employment tax rules, including state sourcing, fringe benefits, equity and deferred compensation plans and international assignee rules
  • Bachelor’s degree or at least 5 years working in a related position
  • Ability to perform technical research using multiple resources
  • Strong written, verbal, quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team structure
  • Ability to learn and adapt to change
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work well with others and display objectivity in difficult situations
  • Organized and flexible
  • Understanding of risk management and/or compliance concepts
  • Proven leadership track record
  • Project management skills
