INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITY: Linguistics Worker

LI Title: INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITY: Linguistics Worker

Samuel Johnson said, “I am always sorry when any language is lost, because languages are the pedigrees of nations.” What if you could use your researching and archiving skills to help preserve languages?

As a supported* linguistics worker, you would do independent linguistic research in support of one or more language development programs. You would conduct research, using firsthand data collected from native language speakers, as well as secondary data collected from institution libraries, archives and collections, and other sources of information.

Today, over 2000 people groups, 170 million people, still don’t have the Bible translated into their languages! Wycliffe USA believes the Word of God can transform lives when people hear it in their own language or form, and we urgently need you to join the team!

Job Location: Southern Asia

Want to work in a different location? Wycliffe USA has many open positions located in Africa, Asia, Europe, Americas, and the Pacific! Even though this job is located overseas, you must be legally authorized to work in the United States as per U.S. employment laws.

Every day is different! One day you might conduct research and publish your results in technical journals or other outlets. Another day you might share data with a host country and the scientific community or assist in archiving. Still another day you might facilitate the training of others in linguistic analysis, write-ups, and application.

This job might be for you if…
  • You have an MA in linguistics or equivalent field experience.
  • You demonstrate the desire and ability to support corporate Biblical and religious goals and participate in regular work-related spiritual activities without reservation (Spiritual Bona Fide Occupational Qualification)

*ABOUT SUPPORTED POSITIONS
