2021 - 2022 Affordable Dental Care Programs Assistant VISTA
As a VISTA Member at Affordable Dental Care Inc. in Madison, WI you will gain professional experience by working to expand access to quality dental care for those who are underinsured or without dental insurance by: helping to maintain ADC's Agape Grant Program, collaborating with ADC's executive director to create an event schedule for the upcoming year, create and distribute newsletters, refine and re-energize outgoing thank you program for one time donors, building partnerships with schools and other organizations, helping to develop clinic policies and procedures coupled with growing Affordable Dental's volunteer pool, grant-writing/fundraising to help increase the capacity, continuing to develop Affordable Dental's outreach via social media and more.
ADC's main mission is to restore hope, health, and opportunity through quality dentistry to the uninsured, at-risk population. 2. Create a physically and mentally healthier community by combatting dental disease. 3. Increase the capacity of Affordable Dental Care to more efficiently and strategically serve their patients and community.
AmeriCorps VISTA was founded at the same time as the Peace Corps with a similar goal in mind: to combat poverty domestically. As such, it is a volunteer program structured around year long contracts where one receives a monthly living stipend, is eligible for free health insurance, and at the end of a volunteer’s year of service, have the option of an 1,800 dollar cash payout or a 6,345 dollar education award. Our WAFCC team feels fortunate to be working with the VISTA program to help provide recent graduates with an interest in the healthcare field an opportunity to learn more about a free clinic or health department environment as well as shadowing and other resume building opportunities so we can ensure you're successful with whatever your next steps may be.
