Analytical Chemist

SHINE is immediately seeking Analytical Chemists to develop and implement activities and experiments related to product development and operations involving chemical handling under general supervision of Chemistry team.  
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Construction / Commissioning Phase
  • Perform experimental and prototyping work with Engineering related to chemical and radiochemical handling, sampling, and analysis.
  • Perform process equipment selection and installation for chemical separation and purification for mockup and for the plant.
  • Develop and modify standard operating procedures for the use of laboratory equipment and write inspection and test plans.
  • Perform chemical and radiochemical handling, sampling, and analysis necessary for the safe and efficient commissioning and start-up of the manufacturing plant.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Operations Phase
  • Perform chemical and radiochemical operations and analytical testing of various samples in the production processes.
  • Perform sampling and analysis of gases, liquids, and solids.
  • Analyze and interpret the results of radiological surveys for contamination and analyses.
  • Maintain and calibrate chemical measuring instruments and other associated equipment.
  • Ensure activities are conducted in a safe manner in compliance with federal and state standards and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Requirements:
  • BS in chemistry or relevant scientific discipline, analytical chemistry is preferred.
  • Previous knowledge of HPLC, ICP-MS, and liquid scintillation detection instrumentation is preferred.
  • Willingness to be “hands on” and understand new technology.
  • Work experience at a radiochemistry laboratory is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a cGMP environment conducting analytical assays is preferred.
  • Previous experience of process equipment selection and installation is highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
