Human Resources & Compliance Analyst

Universal Logistics Holdings is currently seeking a Human Resources & Compliance Analyst based in our corporate office in Warren, Michigan. The Human Resources/Compliance Analyst will have responsibilities including but not limited to data development and analytics, policy coordination, and wage & hour compliance. The Human Resources & Compliance Analyst will work directly with the VP of HR Operations as well as a team of HR Specialists on unemployment, legal, wage and hour, and risk management. This is a great opportunity to expand knowledge in HR analysis and business operations.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Compile, manipulate, and analyze statistical information for established and ad-hoc requests and projects
  • Deliver quality, timely, accurate, and relevant HR data reporting and analytics
  • Gathering and analyzing data for annual reporting of Affordable Care Act, EEOC, wage and hour, OFCCP and OSHA
  • Ensure compliance with the companies data governance requirements and best practices, ensuring the highest degree of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of work products
  • Analyze Company processes and propose recommendations to improve and determine best course of action for improvements
  • Utilize MS Excel, Access, and Word to draft reports and memos
  • Coordinate development and implementation of human resource policies
  • Reviewing processes and policies to mitigate legal and compliance risk for companies
  • Assist in fulfilling information requests from third party contacts including wage and hour claims, personnel file subpoenas, internal audit requests, etc.
 
Basic Requirements:
·        Willingness to learn and research, with an enthusiasm for professional development
·        Demonstrate personal integrity in maintaining sensitive and confidential information
·        Strong organizational and time management skills to balance multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines
·        General understanding of human resources policy and procedure
·        Comfortable with MS Office
·        Technical aptitude and problem solving
·        Comfortable working in collaboration with others in teams as well as working independently as required
 
Preferred Qualifications:
·        Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, or related degree
·        Working knowledge of HR functional areas from HR generalist experience
·        Able to demonstrate reporting and data analytics
·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·        Experience dealing with dated material and/or strict adherence to guidelines
·        Ability to analyze data and rationalize to decisions that add value to the business
 
Exceptional Qualifications:
·        More than 1 year experience in database administration i.e. Access or SQL/MYSQL
·        Experience writing VBA in MS Access, backing up databases, front end and back end security, and troubleshooting unstable databases
·        Excellent MS Excel skills such as writing macros, pivot tables, H and V lookups, reviewing and analyzing large data sets over 250,000 rows, and troubleshooting established workbooks and formulas
·        HR administration experience with unemployment, wage and hour, and EEOC claims
·        Understanding of Microsoft Dynamics – Great Plains or similar HR/ERP and accounting software platform
