Fish Culture Technicians (Contract)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 


The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking to fill two Fish Culture Technician positions, one for 6.5 months and one for 8 months to assist with fish culture duties, facility maintenance, and groundskeeping at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department fish hatcheries and rearing stations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

 
  • Duties will include, but not be limited to, fish rearing unit cleaning, fish feeding, fish distribution, and a variety of other fish culture activities.
  • These positions will also assist with maintaining the grounds, equipment, and buildings.
QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE: 

 
  • Ability and knowledge of physical duties such as mowing, painting, and other grounds keeping and building maintenance duties.

  • These positions require working in various environmental conditions, using various tools and equipment, and some heavy lifting may be required.


NOTES:

 
  • FLSA: Non-exempt
  • Successful applicants for employment must pass a background check before appointment.
  • The 6.5-month position will run from March 16, 2021, to September 30, 2021, at the Ten Sleep and Wigwam Hatcheries.
  • The 8-month position will run from March 1, 2021, to October 31, 2021, at the Speas Hatchery.
  • Housing is provided at no charge to the employee.
  • No previous fish culture experience is required.
