Librarian I

The City of Dubuque invites applications for the position of Librarian I. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering and performing professional library reference work and related library services in a public library. Tasks include the collection management of library materials; and furnishing reference, bibliographical, and readers' advisory services in person, by phone, or in a virtual environment. The Librarian will perform in-depth, strategic research, and synthesize, analyze, edit, and filter information. They will set up or work with databases and information systems to access information. Master's degree in Library and Information Science or a related degree, preferably from an ALA accredited school; experience working with a diverse workforce and population; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the minimum qualifications are required. Experience working in a library setting is preferred. The successful candidate will possess the ability to follow a management philosophy that is input oriented and values equity, problem solving and the development of partnerships; and desire to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork.
