MANAGER OF HUMAN RESOURCES

MUWSSP is a new partnership forming a collaborative environment in which to develop and sustain a fully functional human resources, and diversity, equity, and inclusion presence across five United Ways. This shared partnership allows us to support those needs in a fuller capacity and further embed our core focus within diversity, equity, and inclusion. POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager of Human Resources will partner with the Director of Human Resources, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to implement strategies for providing a shared services model of Human Resources to 5 regional United Way locations in Michigan (Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo/Battle Creek, Lansing, St. Joseph, Jackson). They will provide leadership by executing on HR strategic initiatives specifically in the areas of workforce planning; talent management; cultural cultivation; equity, diversity, and inclusion; training and development; employee relations; compensation and benefits administration; rewards and recognition; organizational development; change management; and regulatory compliance. This manager will work with the individual locations in supporting cultural change initiatives and continuous improvement activities. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Partners with Director of Human Resources, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion on developing Shared Services Human Resources strategy and is responsible for the successful execution of the strategy.
• Researches and develops HR metrics for measuring effectiveness of recruiting, training and other HR programs. Reports metrics and program progress to leaders on a quarterly basis.
• Collaborates with the Director and organizational leaders to develop programs that attract, retain, and promote a diverse workforce. 
• Develops and implements a Performance Management model (Pay for Performance)
• Under the leadership of the Director, performs processes and procedures within all areas of recruiting and onboarding to ensure strong, diverse candidates are selected for open positions.
• Partners with HR Director to integrate diversity and inclusion into core decisions within recruitment, performance management, leadership development, employee engagement and retention functional areas. 
• Serves as an Employee Relations contact for EEOC, Compliance and Regulatory employment areas, and with legal counsel.
• Assist in training and facilitation of opportunities to educate employees and managers on how to recognize, accommodate and appreciate individual differences 
• Keeps current on diversity programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field (e.g., professional association and educational groups and professional development efforts).
• Researches and develops metrics for measuring the effectiveness of diversity initiatives implemented and prepares reports to senior management on the value of the initiatives. 
• Translate strategy into a tactical plan with clear actions, accountability, and goals to promote best in class equitable DE&I practices. 
• Initiates and maintains external partnerships and networking relationships and holds active memberships with local, state and national HR organizations (i.e. SHRM, World@Work, AHRM).  
• Responsible for outreach relationships with diversity-related organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS  

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, human resources, business or related disciplines or equivalent in experience 
• Minimum of three years professional work experience in human resources and/or diversity and inclusion
• Organized with a strong attention to detail and achieving deadlines 
• Excellent written and verbal communications along with presentation skills  
• Excellent project management and organizational skills required 
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook programs, as well as HRIS
• Self-initiating, exercising good judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Collaborative and creative 
• Experience with EEOC, Compliance required 
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate metrics, research and trends into action plans  
• Outgoing personality that works well with a variety of people, and projects a positive, professional personality that appropriately represents the United Way
• The ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.

WORKING CONDITIONS 
• Candidate must be able to work successfully in a remote work environment.
• Occasional local travel to UW locations within the regional area.
• Work outside of normal business hours will be required from time to time

SALARY

$60,000 to $65,000
