GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
The Accountant is responsible for all day-to-day accounting functions including payables, receivables, and maintaining the general ledger. Other responsibilities include ;maintaining various allocations; financial and business analysis; insurance; payroll and benefits; grants and foundation billing and reporting; audit preparation and support; banking; staff support for annual audit Position also serves as is the liaison with our outsourced controller and chief financial officer firm; and insurance providers. Position is responsible for completion of the agency operating and capital budgets, variance analysis and compliance with them. 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Leads the financial function of the leadership team.
• Supports the Executive Director with timely analysis, planning and reporting.
• Complies with internal controls, evaluates their effectiveness and makes recommendations to change as needed.
• Responsible for all month-end closing activities including routine and adjusting journal entries.
• Completes enrollment or declinations and audits for employee benefits and their files.
• Prepares internal financial reports, reimbursement schedules and other financial documents as requested.
• Prepares and makes bank deposits.
• Prepares monthly bank reconciliation, for approval by the Executive Director.
• Maintains an organized filing system for all fiscal activities compliant to audit standards.
• Prepares and maintains various spreadsheets pertaining to the organization’s financial and service operations.
• Prepares and staffs audits, licensure, accreditation and/or other compliance inspections.
• Promotes MMRS philosophy and mission through personal attitude, actions and behaviors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with agencies conflict resolution protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in accounting or finance with a minimum of three years accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience and proficiency with automated accounting systems, Excel and MS Office required.

Must have solid organizational skills and demonstrate an ability to carry out all responsibilities accurately within established timeframes and with attention to detail. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must conduct his/her duties with utmost discretion and respect, the law and ethical standards of the profession.

If recovering from a substance use disorder, must verify a period of demonstrated continuous sobriety.
