Sustainability Analyst

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is hiring a Sustainability Analyst who will play a key role in supporting the Airport's growing portfolio of work to attain carbon neutral, zero net energy, and zero waste status by 2021, even as our passenger enplanements continue to grow. This dynamic individual is tasked with working autonomously across our matrixed organization to gather and analyze large complex datasets and develop and deliver presentations that support the annual Airport’s Climate Action Plan/Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory and Sustainability Plan/Report. To that end, SFO’s Sustainability Analyst will understand and evaluate the complexities of the carbon lifecycle and climate models, greenhouse gas emissions accounting and reporting techniques, efficiency investment strategies grounded in lifecycle cost analyses, community engagement tools such as community-based social marketing, and the carbon offset market.
The Sustainability Analyst will also be responsible for delivering the following functions: Environmental Compliance & Reporting; Sustainability Metrics & Reporting; and General Sustainability Analysis & Tools Development. Desirable candidate will have the following:
  • Greenhouse gas emissions accounting/reporting and climate action planning.
  • Environmental regulation tracking and compliance reporting via an Environmental Management System (EMS), such as Enviance Software.
  • Environmental and financial performance target setting and data gathering, analysis and maintenance to document outcomes aligned with strategic, sustainability, and/or climate action planning.
  • Sustainability and environmental policy development, carbon pricing tools and offset research, and behavioral management program design/community engagement to achieve measurable results.
  • Comparing and utilizing sustainability return on investment and lifecycle cost estimation tools.
  • Evaluating and tracking environmental, social, and economic performance via third-party certification programs including LEED Online, ARC, zEPI, EPA Portfolio Manager, energy management dashboards, ArcView GIS and/or customer relationship management software.
