Recycling & Community Coordinator

Performs administrative support work as the marketing and social media coordinator for Onslow County Solid Waste. Coordinates and oversees recycling events and presentations, researches and applies for applicable solid waste and recycling grants, and related work as apparent or assigned. Provides leadership to volunteers. Work is performed under the minimal supervision of the Solid Waste Director. Position Responsibilities:Maintains all social media and website platforms related to Onslow County Solid Waste
Manages and coordinates the volunteer program
Organize and prepare recycling and community events
Coordinates with Material Recovery Facility on recycling outreach
Maintains professional communication and representation with community partners and citizens 
Create promotion literature for community events, outreach programs, and other Onslow County Solid Waste functions
Research, submit, and manage grants
Oversees recycling programs including but not limited to: tires, electronics, and white
goods
Monitors and audits recycling containers from convenience sites and schools
Develop, coordinate, and present recycling education for K-12.students and educational staff
Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteered
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:Thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and office assistance techniques; thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; thorough knowledge of the organization and functions of the department and of general administrative policies and practices; ability to keep office records and to prepare accurate reports from file sources; ability to perform and organize work independently; ability to prepare effective correspondence independently; ability to operate standard office equipment including personal computer and knowledge of applicable software packages; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public. 

Education, Experience, and Special Requirements:High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in administrative or marketing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates/Technical degree preferred.
