Third Coast Competition Internship

POSITION TITLE: Third Coast Competition Intern (Part-time / Temporary)
REPORTS TO: Senior Producer
SALARY: $18 per hour
DATE: April - July (2 days per week)
LOCATION: 848 E. Grand Ave (at Navy Pier), Chicago, IL

Third Coast is an independent arts non-profit driven by the belief that audio storytelling is an artform unto its own. We value nurturing and supporting a field that is intersectional, diverse, community-driven, self-reflective, and pushes the boundaries of the medium. A home for audio storytelling without borders, we’ve been rooted in the city of Chicago for two decades. Third Coast supports makers by identifying, recognizing, and curating talent; building community across borders and disciplines; increasing shared resources and accessibility within the industry; and igniting transformative innovations around the world.

Third Coast seeks one intern to assist staff with all aspects of the Third Coast/Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition, including promotion/marketing, entry organization, deep listening, and preparation for our judges.

This internship is for someone who is interested in arts administration, data and project management, and engaging in the audio industry from a perspective that is not production-centered (though producers are welcome to apply). We ask for interns to demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, and some experience in data management (we use Airtable!) A strong candidate for this position is as passionate about archives and databases as they are about the arts. A demonstrated interest in audio storytelling as a medium is a plus, but not required. We’re seeking a Competition intern to work 2 days a week beginning in April ending in mid-July. The Competition intern must be located in Chicago for the duration of the internship.

In addition: While the Competition intern is not required to attend the 2020 Third Coast Conference, we do offer the person who completes this internship a gratis registration to the Third Coast Conference.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Third Coast/RHDF Competition by managing all internal data (primarily via Airtable), helping to facilitate the review and judging process, and managing the entry process and infrastructure
  • Organize other logistical information relevant to the Competition and associated programming
  • Offer friendly and clear communications with all who enter the Competition

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skills in data and project management, attention to detail, and clear and effective communication
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive) required; familiarity with Airtable is encouraged but not required
  • Interest in the work and mission of Third Coast or an interest in the field of narrative audio storytelling and/or arts and media
