AIRPORT MANAGER - FULL TIME

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The Airport Manager, under the general direction of the Community Development Director, manages the development, monitoring and administration of all activities related to the operation and maintenance of the Muskegon County Airport. The Airport Manager ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding airport operations, security, and zoning. The Airport Manager is responsible for the supervision of staff engaged in maintaining airport facilities and equipment, works with the airport board to promote airport services, and performs other related duties as required. 

REQUIRED MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or closely related field; AND Have a minimum of five (5) years full-time work experience in airport operations which provided familiarity with state and federal laws related to airport operations.
  2. Possession of Certified Member (C.M.) certification through the American Association of Airport Executives required. Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) is preferred.
 
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS / WORK LOCATION:
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee in this class must be in good physical condition such to allow for occasional heavy work activity requiring the lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The Airport Manager works in the office of the Muskegon County International Airport. Work may be carried out throughout the airport facilities or out of doors, and travel throughout the County may be required.

EVALUATION CONTENT
The selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
