Underwriting & Product Management Summer Internship

Our Underwriting, Modeling, Business, and Analytics Internship will provide a hands-on experience in a challenging environment. Qualified interns will experience different functions of our Underwriting and Product Management department; including working on product modeling, product strategy, competitive intelligence, and decision support sciences. Interest and skill set will determine which area is the best fit for you.
As an intern, you will apply data-mining, statistics, and modeling techniques to a myriad of types of data on a daily basis. You will be responsible for looking creatively at business problems and working on long-term projects throughout the summer. Towards the end of your internship, you will showcase your work to senior management.

During this paid 10-week summer internship based in Washington DC, you will:
•Research creative ways to assess risk
•Understand and more accurately predict customer behavior
•Develop new tools to identify potential underwriting fraud
•Evaluate new sources of data for use in modeling insurance risk
•Learn how GEICO collaborates with state insurance departments and regulators
•Work on projects that will determine the likelihood of a loss
Qualifications:
•Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in one of the following fields of study: Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or Data Analytics
•Current junior status or will be a rising senior during Summer 2020 (i.e. graduating in December 2020 or May 2021)
•Cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 or higher
•Excellent analytical math, statistical, and data management skills
•Ability to live and work in the Washington DC area this summer
