What does our department do?

The WarnerMedia Security Operations Center (SOC) is responsible for the detection of cyber threats and attacks and the ensuing response. We leverage multiple cutting-edge security monitoring tools to assist us with our analysis and investigations. The SOC works closely with the Cyber Threat Intelligence team, Vulnerability Management team, and Incident Response Team when investigating security events and alerts.

What will you be doing?

Working with the Security Operations Center, this position will entail working on a team project with another intern. The project will focus on the development of the SOC’s training program by translating the idea of the program into an effective training product to be used by all new SOC analysts joining the team. The ideal candidate will have an inquisitive mind, creative problem-solving skills and a passion for cybersecurity.
  • Responsible for implementing training playbooks via Demisto, a Security Automation and Orchestration platform
  • Shadow SOC analysts to effectively understand training focus area
  • Work with security monitoring and alerting tools to gain understanding of how they are used during analysis and investigations
  • Review documentation for process, procedures, and security tools used within the team
What do we require from you?
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Masters degree in a Cybersecurity, Information Technology or relevant field
  • Knowledge of Windows and one of the following operating systems; *NIX, OS X
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts
  • Ability to innovate ways to train security professionals
  • Ability to learn new technology and concepts quickly
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Scripting experience is preferred, i.e. python, bash

Internship dates are May 26, 2020 – August 7, 2020. All interns are expected to work 40 hours per week and paid competitively based on location (relocation is not provided). Participation in the internship program is reserved for students who are currently enrolled or within 6 months post-graduation. Most positions are targeted to upperclassmen and graduate students. Candidates must be qualified and available to work at the time the application is submitted. Full-time employment is not guaranteed at the end of the program.
