Research Technician - Shi Lab and Wen Lab

Drs. Xiaobing Shi and Hong Wen’s laboratories in the Center for Epigenetics at Van Andel Institute are seeking to hire one Research Technician. 
 
The Shi lab and the Wen lab are among the leading groups in the study of epigenetic regulation of chromatin and transcription in normal and cancer development. Main techniques used in the lab include molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry and biophysics, genetic and genomics, mammalian cell culture and mouse model. The Research Technician will work with these two labs offering ample learning and growth opportunity.
 
The Research Technician is expected to be responsible for the following tasks:
 
  • Molecular cloning and and basic molecular biological experiments
  • Basic biochemical assays such as protein expression and purification
  • Basic mouse handeling and genotyping
  • General lab maintenance
  • Other lab duties as requested
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or preferably a Master’s degree in biological sciences in the fields of biochemistry, molecular and/or cell biology
  • A minimum 2 years of hands on bench experience is required
  • Self-diciplined, highly organized team worker
  • Previous mouse genetic experience is preferred
