Due to the need to evolve in this continually changing world of work where the competition for talent is greater each day, the Michigan Department of Transportation has created a new Workforce Programs and Recruitment Unit. This new Unit was created to coordinate the complexities of an intentional, strategic, department-wide recruitment program that will help the department to meet workforce demands for the future.
This position will serve as a first-line manager of a complex work area under the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT's) Workforce Programs and Recruitment Unit and will be responsible for the leadership, management, and coordination of all recruitment activities department-wide and statewide for MDOT. The Unit Manager will supervise the staff in the MDOT Workforce Programs and Recruitment Unit, and coordinate with the MDOT Organizational Development Officer, MDOT Leadership, MDOT Bureaus, Regions, and Offices, the Office of Human Resources, industry partners, educational institutions, trades organizations, and other partners to lead the effective delivery of MDOT's Recruitment Program. The position will also ensure alignment and oversee the existing workforce programs, such as the Engineer Development Program (EDP), Internship Program, Capstone Internship Program, Youth Development and Mentoring Program (YDMP), Transportation Diversity and Recruitment Program (TDRP), and the Transportation and Civil Engineering (TRAC) Internship Program.
