Human Resources Associate - Rotational Program

Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving three primary markets – passenger vehicle, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment – Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.

The Human Resources Rotational Progam is designed to create well-rounded HR professionals who would have the ability to rotate between different disciplines of HR such as HR Generalist, Labor Relations, and Center of Excellence. Dana is looking for talented individuals who are looking to jumpstart their career with a challenging opportunity to learn, develop, and grow.

The rotational role we have identified to fill would start in Dana's Commercial Vehicle Plant in Humboldt, TN reporting to the plant human resources manager.
 
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administer human resources policies, procedures and programs, including FMLA, disability, tuition reimbursement, safety, work conduct, etc.
  • 18-24 month rotations within division of HR with mobility and relocation required for next rotational assignment.
  • Ensure and enforce compliance with all applicable employment laws, company policies and collective bargaining agreement terms.
  • Coordinate talent acquisition and talent management activities for hourly personnel such as on-boarding, and job bidding process administration. 
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of time and attendance records for all employees, including accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll.
  • Support HR efforts related to investigations, governmental inquiries, grievance resolution, performance and absence management and disciplinary actions
  • Act as change agent to continuously improve processes, methods, past practices, etc.
  • Plan, organize and coordinate various projects, programs and committees related to employee relations, safety, internal communications, etc.
  • Support local leadership in action planning related to employee engagement.
  • Maintain employee personnel records.
  • Process various employment actions in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Respond to day-to-day HR employee inquiries and request.
  • Build strong relationships with operations team, Union representatives and other business partners to deliver business objectives and resolve issues.
  • Foster an effective, inclusive work environment, effectively balancing employee advocacy with conservancy of company goals and values.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field. 
  • Certification as an HR Professional (i.e. PHR) is preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing and union environment.
  • Knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Must be proficient in Office Management software (e.g. Excel, setting up spreadsheets, extracting data into and from pivot tables, etc.) and PowerPoint.
  • Adept at using the internet to research and obtain valid information.
  • Preferably have worked with SAP for payroll and people data management and ADP eTime for time and attendance management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to easily build credibility with associates on the shop floor.
  • Exceptional organizational and record keeping skills. 
  • Mobility and relocation to other Dana locations required – must be able to make multiple rotational moves in first 5 years in program.
