Financial Specialist Senior - Blugold Central: Bursar Unit

POSITION: A full-time university staff position is available in Blugold Central- Bursar Unit beginning on or after February 1, 2020. The official and working title for this assignment is Financial Specialist Senior. This is an expected-to-continue assignment which requires a six-month probationary period. The expected starting hourly salary will be $18.03 and is based on qualifications and experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have experience with customer service and interpreting and analyzing rules and regulations. In addition, they need to possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy, time management and organizational skill, and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with efficiency. A qualified candidate must have cash handling including deposit preparation and reconciliation, payment processing, and is willing to learn a wide variety of job duties as this position is a backup for other Financial Specialists. They would need to be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, email, internet, and data entry on databases, including the ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets with simple formulas. They must also demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness and the ability to bring diverse perspective and experiences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience administering Veteran’s benefits, accounts receivable billing; and experience with PeopleSoft student financials. 
DUTIES: Processes, invoices & receives 3rd party provider payments, Independently interprets student account information & advises students, places/removes service indicators on student accounts, Provides input & requests for creation of    queries to prepare reports for audit trail, Interprets applicable federal, state, and institutional rules, regulations to safeguard institutional compliance and security, Reviews, analyzes & reconciles accounts receivables for specific benefits programs, applies payments, waivers & benefit disbursements to student accounts, resolves discrepancies involving application of benefits, payments and waivers, gathers & interprets data & student information & verifies accuracy, and brings forward continuous process improvement ideas. Prepares daily parking/transportation deposit and backup for university daily deposit.
