Promise Engagement Specialist
The VISTA member with Lansing Promise will help develop and implement communications and marketing strategies to increase the impact of the Lansing Promise Zone Scholarship program and to build awareness of the program in the community and on social media. They will also help with the development of a communications platform, the Promise Community Hub, to support current recipients succeed in their post-secondary endeavors. In doing so, the VISTA member will be vital in the success of Lansing students as they support them in getting to and through college!
The Power of We AmeriCorps VISTA Program focuses on building capacity of Ingham County organizations in the areas of education and economic opportunity. The program emphasizes the importance of professional development and personal growth, while creating an exceptional AmeriCorps VISTA experience for members during the term of service.
Members serve full-time for one calendar year. Benefits of serving include:
- Annual living stipend of $12,491
- An education award ($6,195) or cash stipend ($1,803) upon completion of service.
- Paid vacation and sick leave.
- Healthcare allowance or benefit
- Childcare assistance for children under 13.
- Student loan forbearance.
- Non-competitive eligibility for federal employment upon completion of service.
