UWGS partners with nonprofits and leads community coalitions whose programs and missions align with those goals. United Way’s mission is to create positive, lasting change for people in need. We do this by focusing on the two foundations of better lives: financial opportunity and educational success. The VISTA member will be responsible for planning and executing the Granite Youth Film Festival (an event promoting leadership, empowerment, and substance use education among school-aged youth), assisting in the implementation of “Somersworth – Ready Together” (a project with a goal of improving the kindergarten readiness of children in Somersworth), and managing and coordinating a fundraising event (Purses for a Purpose) for Women United. Support volunteers, fund raise, and network with 30+ nonprofits to expand attendance for 8th annual Community Baby Shower event. Vista members will work full time. 40 hours/ week. Flexible schedule, but coworkers and partners typically work during the week 9-5pm. Occasional evenings and weekends will be required for annual events.
