Disneyland Resort Communications/Public Relations Internship-Sp' 2020

As part of our team, you will tap your writing, research and relationship skills to drive media coverage and increase awareness of the Disneyland Resort, a world-class family vacation destination. You’ll also engage with consumer media utilizing all formats (print, digital, social and broadcast).

A Day in the Life…
Support domestic and Hispanic PR efforts that create awareness of new developments at the Disneyland Resort, with the goal of driving visitation. Tap your storytelling ability to help create engaging, timely and accurate media assets and content (press releases, photo captions, video, blog stories, etc.).

Other duties include:
  • Assist publicists with maintaining consumer media and influencer relationships; coordinate media and influencer outreach
  • Manage influencer/blogger database, including researching new contacts and determing metrics
  • Proactively identify story ideas and media opportunities
  • Support on-property media visits, familiarization tours, press events, plus video/photo shoots
  • Track and create media coverage summary reports
  • Assist in maintaining the PR news site

What You Bring…
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous internship or work experience in Public Relations or Journalism
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong working knowledge of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.
  • Experience in creating content for digital/social media
  • Proficiency with Associated Press writing style
  • Flexibility to work various hours, including early mornings and evenings
  • Computer proficiency within a Windows or MAC environment (both preferred)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous reporting/writing experience with a news outlet (print, broadcast or digital)
  • Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish
  • Previous work experience at the Disneyland Resort
  • Working knowledge and experience with WordPress
  • Demonstrated proficiency designing and creating graphics and/or infographics


Required Education

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher pursuing (or recently graduated with) a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communications, Media Relations or a related major
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
This position also does require you to present a transcript, official or unofficial, to your dashboard. This is required before an offer will be made.

Internship Eligibility:
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from an accredited college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continuous employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Program Length:
The approximate dates of this internship are January 2020 through June 2020. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

Housing: A limited amount of company-sponsored housing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
