Director of Curriculum

SUMMARY
The Director of Curriculum, Instruction will provide leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review and evaluation of the district’s curriculum and instructional services, federal programs, career and technical education services, assessment, research and evaluation services. The Director ensures that the district/school education objectives are aligned to state frameworks and to instructional practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement and instructional excellence. The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment reports to the Superintendent and participates as a member of the Superintendent’s administrative team.

COMPENSATION
Based on Experience and Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for curriculum development and implementation district-wide
  • Participate in ongoing review of proposed programs to assess their effectiveness and alignment with current district initiatives
  • Facilitates curriculum mapping and the development of a viable curriculum district-wide
  • Uses organizational strategy to build a coherent plan for school improvement
  • Responsible for the preparation of K-12 Course of Study and various reports as needed
  • Analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum and teaching methods
  • Facilitate the selection of textbooks and resource materials
  • Assist the Business Manager with the coordination of school district federal grants
  • File, articulate and communicate district-wide school improvement state required reports
  • Other duties assigned by the Superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree, preferred
  • Teaching Certification with specialized knowledge, licenses, etc.
  • Minimum of five years of verifiable experience as a successful classroom teacher and/or administrator in a K-12 urban school district
  • Ability to complete assignments and reports, along with preparing presentation for the public
  • Ability to balance several job functions at one time and work under a heavy work load
  • Ability to work in and contribute to creating a performance culture and highly collaborative environment
  • Ability to analyze statistical data for trends and standard performance in various programs and to develop strategies for improvement
  • Extensive knowledge of elementary and secondary curriculum and graduation requirements
