Building Inspector I/ Plan Reviewer
The Charter Township of Shelby is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of Building Inspector I/ Plan Reviewer. Duties include performing inspections and reviewing plans to enforce compliance utilizing applicable construction codes, ordinances, and regulations specific to the discipline or disciplines.
Qualified candidate must provide proof of the following:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with five (5) years directly related experience OR an associate degree in related field with two (2) years of directly related experience.
- Must possess a valid driver license and driving record without limitation.
- State of Michigan registration as an Inspector and Plan Reviewer in the applicable discipline(s) or have the ability and qualifications to obtain provisional registrations within ninety (90) days of employment. Certification as an Inspector and Plan Reviewer from the International Code Council (ICC) in the applicable discipline(s) is preferred. Current employees without ICC certification(s) are required to actively undertake coursework and testing to obtain the certification(s).
