Neighborhood Engagement - Community Building and Engagement

Summary: Dwelling Place is looking for an intern to assist with organizing and administrative duties associated with specialized community projects. Candidates should have basic word processing skills, strong written and verbal skills and an interest in making positive community change in a diverse transitioning neighborhood. This position includes clerical and organization focused work to support Dwelling Place’s community engagement activities. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Support and expanded engagement of the 300+ businesses located in the Heartside Business Association boundaries. 
  • Ensure whenever possible that projects are in collaboration with other interns, DP staff, resident or AmeriCorps Members. 
  • Providing administrative and technical support for specialized community research projects with a focus on resident engagement and collaboration between nonprofit and business organizations 
  • Creating and distributing meeting reminders
  • Update and improve existing email lists 
  • Researching new grant possibilities and writing and upgrading current/new grants
  • Coordinating special projects and general outreach programs
  • Serving on one community committee  
  • Creating press releases, flyers and informational letters to the public
  • Updating organizational websites
  • Assist with fundraising and creation of communications
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed

Special Note: This is an unpaid internship; the schedule can be flexible however, interns are encouraged to work a minimum 8-10 hours a week, between 9am and 5pm M-F for 3-4 month terms. Additional meeting times outside of work hours may be required to fulfill duties and requirements. Must be able to work independently and with other team members.
