Virtual Internship:Managing a Virtual American Space - USA Cafe & Social Media Analysis for Libya External Office (LEO)

Be part of the Libya External Office team: pick one of two projects: 1. Managing a virtual American Space 2. Monitor, analyze, and report on social media trends and conversations in Libya

Project 1. Are you passionate about American movies, culture, food, holidays, and everything that makes America unique? Have you always wanted to learn about Libya? We are looking for interns to manage the second year of our virtual American Space for Libya called USA Café. This is a unique opportunity to design the direction of U.S. Embassy Libya’s virtual space where Libyan and American students interact with each other and learn about American culture. Interns are excepted to engage with USA Café’s audience through monthly live chat on the U.S. Embassy’s closed Facebook group

.Project 2. The VSFS intern will be responsible for tracking and reporting on social media trends in Libya. The intern will conduct research and analysis of online conversations on Libyan Facebook and Twitter in Arabic and English to provide twice monthly report that will be shared Embassy leader-ship. The topics that the intern will focus on through his/her social media analysis will be provided by the Public Affairs Section. At the end of the internship, the intern will be asked to draft a report on the social media land-scape in Libya that includes a list of the top Libyan social media influencers, social media usage by the targeted audience, and an analysis of the most engaging social media content consumed by Libyans

Project 1. The U.S. Embassy to Libya was evacuated from Tripoli in 2014 due to insecurity. Our Embassy is now a virtual team with staff in Tunisia and Libya and we welcome the contributions of our virtual interns based in the United States. This internship offers a unique opportunity to "meet" Libyan students and young professionals and gain social media-specific presentation skills. Come and join U.S. Embassy Libya’s virtual team!

Project 2. The ideal candidate is proficient in both Arabic and English and also has a minimum knowledge of the Middle East and social media analysis tools
