Stocking Volunteer

Position: Stocking Volunteer

Reports To: Program Manager & Grocery Manager

Objective: To assist with stocking, rotating, storing, and repackaging product      
                                    
Specific Tasks:
  • Stock and rotate product on merchandise shelves and coolers
  • Straighten and face products on merchandise shelves
  • Change out Category/Point signs as needed
  • Repackage products such as fruits and vegetables and dry goods as needed
  • Wipe down merchandise shelves as needed
  • Assist Grocery Manager in back room if willing and able and as needed
  • Break down and dispose of product packaging into appropriate containers
  • Uphold and demonstrate the Community Food Club’s values of community, dignity, member choice, and equity

Qualifications:
  • Positive attitude and good communication
  • Experience working in a retail setting not required - but must have a commitment to providing a consistently high level of customer service to all Members
  • Willingness to learn and implement basic food safety practices
  • Ability to follow a written task list
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift 10-20 pounds during shift

Time Commitment: 1-2 hour shifts based on availability

Paperwork and Training Requirements:
Volunteers must complete a registration form, waiver, and submit to a Michigan state background check. Minors (under 18 years of age) must be authorized to volunteer by a parent or guardian. Once the paperwork has been received and processed, a Food Club staff member will reach out regarding a volunteer orientation. There is a required 1-hour orientation prior to volunteering. Ongoing one-on-one training as needed in the specific role the volunteer selects.
