Check-In Volunteer
Position: Check-In Volunteer
Reports To: Program Manager
Objective: To assist with Member Check-In and verify point balances
Specific Tasks:
- Maintain confidentiality of Member information at all times
- Use photo ID to look up Members in Food Club database and verify their available point balance
- Answer questions and direct Members appropriately
- Repackage bulk produce into bags
- Stock and straighten produce section as needed
- Wipe down produce cooler shelves and produce carts as needed
- Uphold and demonstrate the Community Food Club’s values of choice and dignity
Qualifications:
- Positive attitude and good communication
- Must have a commitment to providing a consistently high level of customer service to all Members
- Willingness to learn and implement basic food safety practices
- Standing not required for operating the Check-In; standing involved in restocking and repackaging produce if able
Time Commitment: 1-2 hour shifts based on availability
Paperwork and Training Details:
Volunteers must complete a registration form, waiver, and submit to a Michigan state background check. Minors (under 18 years of age) must be authorized to volunteer by a parent or guardian. Once the paperwork has been received and processed, a Food Club staff member will reach out regarding a volunteer orientation. There is a required 1-hour orientation prior to volunteering. Ongoing one-on-one training as needed in the specific role the volunteer selects.
