Youth Sports Coordinator (Part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The position’s main focus will be to implement the Y Positive Play Initiative (YPPI) - Y on the Fly mobile components for the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit service area. This position will promote site development, program awareness, youth engagement and ensure that all children have access to the program. This is a 3 year grant funded position with the potential for extension based on funding.

15-24 hour/week
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist with delivery of supplies to designated sites inclusive of sports equipment/kits and healthy snack and beverages.
  • Attend YPPI program team meeting (schedule TBD).
  • Abide by all determined program practices and safety requirements and protocols.
  • Responsive to customer and volunteer needs in a timely and caring way.
  • Help participants access and/or navigate the mobile program process.
  • Maintain excellent communication with YPPI site team and Program Supervisor, participants/parents, site partners and volunteers.
  • Assist with reaching program goals and deliverables.
  • Implement program through standardized processes and procedures that support program quality and impact incluse of the collection of data for evaluation measures.
Promote program and additional resources (via flyers, marketing info, etc.) at mobile sites and with community partners adjacent to mobile sites.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A high school degree or its equivalent is required. Associated degree or equivalent college credits preferred (2yrs).
  • Two years of experience working in a recreational setting is preferred.
  • Experience in administration, including personnel management, youth supervision, curriculum and program planning is preferred.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
