Non-career Wildlife Assistant 6 - Pte. Mouillee


Brief Job Description

  • Non-Career Wildlife Assistant 1 (719 hrs) – This position will work out of the Pointe Mouillee Wildlife Field Office assisting in habitat projects and game area maintenance in Wayne, Monroe and Lenawee counties. This position requires someone who has several years of experience in safely operating and maintaining tractors and farm equipment. The position also requires someone who is proficient in using hand/power tools, including a chainsaw, while doing game area maintenance. Tasks may include picking up trash, posting signs, blocking ORV access, mowing (fields and parking lots), planting crops/grasses, painting gates and trail maintenance. This position will also assist with goose and duck banding.

  • Non-Career Wildlife Assistant 2, 3, and 4, (639 hrs ea.) – These three positions will work out of the Pointe Mouillee Wildlife Field Office assisting with maintaining state game areas and private lands in Wayne, Monroe and Lenawee counties. Tasks will include building and grounds maintenance, opening maintenance, gate repair and installation, trail maintenance, picking up trash, posting signs, wildlife sample collection, duck and goose banding, and other duties as assigned.
