Summer Production Intern - New York City Wine and Food Festival

About NYCWFF:
The Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One is NYC's largest wine and food festival raising money to fight hunger. NYCWFF 2019 will feature close to 80 events throughout four days attracting over 50K consumers and over 500 world-renowned chefs, culinary personalities, winemakers, spirits producers, trade and industry professionals. 

100% of the Festival’s net proceeds benefit two hunger relief organizations; Food Bank For New York City and No Kid Hungry®. Having raised over $12.5MM to date, NYCWFF is gearing up to plan another successful event which will be held October 10-13, 2019.
 
About the Internship:
The Festival office is made up of a small but mighty 10 person team. There is a high level of open communication in our office and access to the entire team. Our team members come from varied backgrounds, bringing different perspectives and strengths to the table, but we all have the same goal in mind - to raise funds to end hunger in the US.

As our intern you will be integral to the overall production and planning of our Festival. With your hand on the pulse of food and lifestyle trends, you will help us, curate our program of events, select event venues, solicit talent to participate in our events, maintain the Festival website, and much more. We welcome you to come back and experience the Festival in October as a part of our onsite Production team so you can see how all of your hard work comes to life!

This internship is a great introduction into the world of event production in New York City. You will have access to our vast network of event producers, venue managers, restaurants, chefs, public relations and marketing agencies. Working directly with the Production Manager, this role is a great opportunity for anyone interested in events, hospitality, non-profit operations, public relations, and marketing.

 
Duties will include but will not be limited to:
 
  • Research restaurants, chefs and event venues.
  • Coordinate and attend site visits.
  • Send invitations to prospective chefs to participate in the Festival.
  • Keep our team on track by maintaining our timeline, creating agendas and taking notes during our weekly calls and meetings.
  • Assist Business Manager with weekly check requests, expense reports and other accounting tasks.
  • Aid with office administration tasks such as coordinating printing jobs, shipping and organization of committee meetings.
  • Produce and manage online forms for chefs, exhibitors, menus, etc.
  • Maintain Festival database with information collected from site visits, chefs, restaurants, etc.
  • Manage Production assets on website including: personality profiles, event information and more.
  • Field general inquiry emails from festival website and forward to appropriate contacts.
 
 
Ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:
  • Available from May – September 2019 (Full Time, Based in NYC).  25- 40 hours with an agreed upon set schedule.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Great initiative and mature judgment, with creative capacity and flexibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), discretion, and strong emotional intelligence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel and preferably Access.
  • Basic Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and InDesign.

 
 
Start & End dates flexible: ideal NYCWFF Intern timing is May through August/early September.
Hours per week: 25- 40 hours with an agreed upon set schedule. The office is open Monday – Friday 9:30am to 6pm.
Compensation: $300.00 stipend per 40 hour work week.
