GIS Field Technician

Position: Utility Systems Technician
Asset Management is an employee-owned Division of Davey Resource Group (DRG).

Duties:
  • Work with major electrical and telecommunication companies and systems to provide analysis of infrastructure.
  • Inspect and assess the rights of ways and utility lines to collect accurate and consistent utility asset data for our clients
  • Providing utility companies real-time updated quality data to help solve service issues
  • Perform light GIS editing of utility data Understand the use of document management systems, filing and document scanning Inspection of infrastructure facilities for customers related to utility systems
  • Electric hazard identification, electric equipment identification, and communication equipment Identification
  • Review and/or correct data integrity errors within the GIS Database Work schedules are typically 5 days per week, 10 hours per day, may require performing standby duties or on-call work assignments
  • Provide utility mapping support to both internal/external customers
  • Comply with all safety regulations and meet safety requirements to maintain a successful safety record
  • Ability and flexibility to travel throughout service territories of utility companies within and out of state
Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk or hike for extended periods of time, bend, reach and to move to carry items weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Proficient use of computers using ESRI, ArcGIS Desktop or other GIS software experience
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism
  • Knowledge of Google suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Presentations, Forms). Knowledge of
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access).Reading and interpreting engineering drawings related to utility systems
  • Excellent communicator who knows how to select the right tone and medium for the message
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and in various hours of the day or night.
  • High school diploma and valid driver’s license required
  • Two years of college or technical school in geography, GIS or related discipline, or completion of an approved apprenticeship program
  • Electric utility and telecommunications experience preferred
  • Organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather
  • Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive/operate a 4x4 vehicle
Additional Information:
The ideal candidates must be comfortable working/traveling throughout utility service territory state/city. Required ability to work full time with a minimum of 45 hours per week regularly. Compensation based on proven experience. DRG offers excellent benefits including health, dental, vision and life insurance after 30 days of employment.
